The fox sees deeply as the timeless, energetic moonlight shines down and moves through him from his furry crown to his royal tail. He has been engaging in a radical but safe unveiling, exposing his wounds and fears, coming to see clearly. His discernment is unadorned by wishful thinking or smoldering resentment. If we could sit still enough to listen, he would tell us, “The spiritual journey of recovery is coming to know your True Self.”

He could be a benefactor, but he arrives out of the brambles only to those who are seeking beyond the familiar. Even then, unless your heart has been opened to the night, he is easy to overlook or invalidate. He is subtle, patient, and knows the danger in a confrontation you are not yet ready for.

Beyond the gateway of ordinary and largely unconscious daily experiences, we meet the Deep I. The Awareness of Awareness.
